It appeared it might be a short night for Grove City’s Kelsey Shirey when she picked up her fourth foul with 17:27 remaining in the second half. After a short stint on the bench, the senior provided the Wolverines with 12 points and buried 3 of 4 free throws down the stretch to put away Chatham in a 61-53 victory. Of the dozen points scored by Shirey, eight came in the second half. Shirey’s disciplined play helped Grove City stave off a late Chatham rally that saw the Cougars use a 13-2 run to pull to 54-51 with 3:53 to play. The win keeps the Wolverines in the hunt for the fourth spot in the PAC standings and a possible first round bye. The PAC Sports Network’s John Lydic talked with Shirey following the game.
