Allegheny (12-12, 11-8) earned an important late-season road win at Grove City on Saturday with a 63-61 triumph. The Gators trailed by as much as 12 points in the first half but rallied to tie the score at 39-39 by halftime. Down 44-40 with just under six minutes to play in the third quarter, the Gators went on a tide-turning 11-0 run to take a 51-44 lead. The pendulum swung toward Allegheny thanks in large part to the sharpshooting of Sofia Genareo. The sophomore guard poured in three consecutive 3-pointers during the run and finished with a career-high 17 points. Leading by as much as 11 points with 3:14 to play, Allegheny staved off a late Grove City rally to prevail with a two-point win. For her efforts in the victory, including eight rebounds and four assists, Genareo was tabbed the Foster Law Offices Player of the Game by the PAC Sports Network.
